RESULTS is a grassroots advocacy organisation working to generate the public and political will to end hunger and poverty. RESULTS supports a network of volunteer activists in the UK to become powerful advocates for change and works closely with civil society organisations around the world to generate greater awareness and resources for the fight against diseases of poverty such as TB.
Since 2005, RESULTS UK has been a partner of the Advocacy to Control Tuberculosis Internationally (ACTION) project which was developed to address and help reverse the global TB problem through policy analysis, education of decision-makers and advocacy. The project’s underlying premise is that more rapid progress can be made against the global TB epidemic by building increased support for TB among key policymakers and other opinion leaders in both donor and high TB-burden countries in order to leverage needed additional resources and to improve policies. RESULTS UK has successfully engaged many parliamentarians in the fight against TB and currently hosts the secretariat of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on TB. Target TB is an international NGO whose vision is a world free from TB. Its mission is to address the health, social and economic impact of the global TB epidemic amongst vulnerable and marginalised groups.
Target TB focuses its work on supporting some of the poorest and most vulnerable people in Africa and Asia to access quality TB testing, treatment and vital additional support services. Over the past 3 years Target TB and its partners have directly enabled 24,000 people with TB to gain access to diagnosis and treatment services. 6,500 people living with HIV and more than 1,500 orphans and vulnerable children affected by the TB and HIV epidemic have also been directly assisted. Health education campaigns have reached 12 million people across 8 countries.
Training local health providers with the knowledge and skills to support national TB control efforts has been a key focus. In the last 3 years we have supported the mobilisation and training of 3,950 community volunteers, 500 peer educators and 1,350 government and private health workers.
